The Hollingsworth Companies would like to welcome a new tenant to the SouthPoint Business Park in Huntsville, Alabama

A distribution company, yet to be named, is the newest tenant in the SouthPoint Business Park located in Huntsville, Alabama. The 252,800 square foot facility was being built as a virtually complete speculative building scheduled to be completed mid-December 2017. Due to the high demand for Class A industrial space, the building was completely leased prior to completion. After completion of the speculative building and additional upfit construction, the building was occupied January 1, 2018.

SouthPoint Business Park, Alabama has seen rapid expansion since the election. A 206,500 SF building was leased in the park in late 2016; and, as a result, the 252,800 SF building was built and is now leased. Mid-year 2017, a 108,960 SF facility was leased so a new 108,960 SF facility was started in July 2017. This new 108,960 SF facility is scheduled to be complete in January and has received a great deal of interest by both defense contractors and commercial manufacturing companies.

To meet the demand for both of the mid-size industrial buildings that were leased, a new 225,000 SF virtually complete speculative building will be started in February 2018. This facility will be constructed with docks down one side of the building. The design of the facility will accommodate cross docks if required.

Huntsville is continuing to see record growth, the BOCAR Group’s first facility in the United States will be directly adjacent to the SouthPoint Business Park in Alabama. Governor Kate Ivey and Mayor Tommy Battle both attended the ground breaking in December with senior executives from BOCAR Germany in attendance. The BOCAR Group is a German company with a presence in the United States, Germany, Mexico, and Japan. It is a high-end technology automotive company with extensive experience producing high pressure aluminum die casting, plastics, and machining.

Numerous articles in the press have stated the Huntsville mega site is in final contention for the new Toyota Mazda plant. This location is located less than 8 miles from SouthPoint Business Park, Alabama. Final selection for this new plant is scheduled for early 2018. Placing this plant in Alabama would spur further grow in the Huntsville metro area in addition to the current growth created by the Army Procurement Command, Redstone Arsenal, and NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. The SouthPoint Business Park Alabama is located adjacent to both the I-65 and 1-565. This location provides excellent access to markets from Nashville, TN and Louisville, KY to the north and Birmingham and Montgomery, AL to the south. This corridor is highly favored by companies that serve the southern automotive market.
