The Hollingsworth Companies industrial park located in Huntsville, AL receives total readiness status for 26-acre greenfield site
Huntsville, AL, August 29 – SouthPoint Industrial Park in Limestone County has received its first Alabama AdvantageSite designation. The AdvantageSite program requires that community economic development organizations provide documentation specific to a proposed industrial site, including a set of standard data related to ownership control, environmental and geotechnical conditions, and infrastructure status. Sites must also meet size, zoning and accessibility requirements.
The 26–acre Alabama Advantage Site is located within the 175 acre SouthPoint industrial park. “Tom Hill, President of the Limestone County Economic Development Authority, was instrumental in assisting us to receive our designation” stated Joe Hollingsworth, CEO of The Hollingsworth Companies. “We have enjoyed a long term commitment from the LCEDA and have already completed 4 Industrial buildings in SouthPoint with their assistance.” Hollingsworth further stated “this private/public cooperation has helped the park attract both defense and automotive related manufacturers. Future expansion will include distribution as well as manufacturing companies.”
LCEDA, President Tom Hill said “the AdvantageSite designation of the SouthPoint Business Parke site is extremely important to business recruitment efforts. This designation proves to our clients that this site is ready for immediate industry needs. Hollingsworth has proved to be an active partner in the development of industrial buildings in our region.” The program is jointly sponsored by the Alabama Department of Commerce, Alagasco, Alabama Power Co., the North Alabama Industrial Development Association, PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, and coordinated by the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama. Representatives from each of the entities actively participate in application reviews and on-site visits to prospective AdvantageSite designees.
The SouthPoint business park is located on the Northeast corner of the I-65 and 565 junction. A 108,000 sqft and 206,000 sqft building are currently available. This location provides quick access to the Rocket City location of NASA and the Redstone Arsenal which includes the Missile Defense Agency and the Army Material Command. The recently opened Huntsville, AL manufacturing sites for Polaris, Remington, and GE Aviation are also located within 10 miles; providing close expansion space for subcontractors moving into the area. Huntsville is well postured for Advanced Manufacturing growth with a large, seasoned high tech work force.
